Wassail – Saturday January 11th

In this old English custom, sing to the trees and make lots of noise, to bring a good harvest of fruit to the Community Orchard.

In conjunction with Bourne Borderers we would like lots of people there to make plenty of noise to awaken the trees, so please bring saucepans and spoons to make lots of noise, and lanterns to light your way into the Community Orchard, off Beech Avenue, Bourne at 4.30pm.

AGM – Wednesday February 19th

Our AGM, a chance for you to come and share your views and ideas, and hear what we have been doing last year!  Room 5, Wake House, 6.45pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Apple Tree Pruning Morning – Sunday February 23rd

For those who are experienced in fruit tree pruning – this is a chance to help out in the orchard with a specific task – Pruning!  Spaces are limited so please phone Sarah on 07760468052 if you would like to help.  Some tools will be provided but you can bring your own.  10am to 1pm,  Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Early Morning Bird Walk – Sunday April 12th

A walk listening to and looking for our resident birds and any Spring migrants.  Early mornings are the best time for birdsong!  Led by local enthusiast Vaughan Roberts.  Meet 6.30am at Forest Office, Beech Avenue entrance.  Donation of £2 per person appreciated.  All welcome.

Oak Apple Day Celebrations  – Sunday May 31st

Join us to celebrate this day and enjoy our community orchard.  Activities for children and adults.  More details nearer the time.  12pm to 3pm, at Community Orchard, off Beech Avenue.  Plant stall, refreshments.  All welcome.  Suggested donations for activities.

Guided Flower Walk – Sunday June 14th

An amble with Dr Richard Jefferson looking at and identifying the flowers, plants and grasses in the wood.  Meet 2pm main car park.  All Welcome.  Donation of £2 per person appreciated.

Mini Beast Hunt – Sunday July 12th

Come and hunt for bugs, beetles and butterflies, and have then identified by Keith Porter.  Suitable for all, children are particularly good at finding insects!  There will be a limited number of nets to use.  Meet 2pm, main car park.  Donation of £2 appreciated per person, (£1 children).

Apple Day – Sunday October 11th

Enjoy the progress in the orchard – fruit and hopefully apple juice to try, stalls and children’s activities, and refreshments.  11am to 3pm.  All welcome.  Suggested donations for activities.

Fungi Foray – Sunday November 15th

Join us to look for and hopefully identify fungi found in the wood.  Led by Dr Vin Fleming.  Bring basket to collect fungi if you have one.  Meet main car park, 2pm.  All welcome.  Donation of £2 per person appreciated.

Maintaining the willow sculpture – Saturday Morning November (Date to be advised)

Help us look after this living sculpture.  No experience necessary as guidance will be given.  Meet Forest Office, Beech Ave, Bourne.  10am. Tools provided, please bring gardening gloves.
