Wassail Saturday January 21st

In this old English custom, sing to the trees and make lots of noise, to bring a good harvest of fruit to the Community Orchard.

Third Saturday Morning Walk

Friends of Bourne Wood Members Only. We meet at the Beech Avenue entrance at 9am the third Saturday of every month for a gentle walk looking at what is around.  All Members and their families welcome, including well behaved dogs.  Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.  Walks last about an hour.

AGM – Wednesday February 22nd

Our AGM, following the same format as last year, with no speaker but we have moved room so there is more space for you to come and share your views and ideas.  Conference Room, Wake House, 6.45pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Litter Pick – Thursday March 23rd

Friends of Bourne Wood Members Only. To be held in conjunction with the Forestry Commission and their volunteers – help us tidy up the woods – March is a great time to find all the litter that is later buried under undergrowth.  Last year there were 20 bags collected on the day – can we beat that?  Please let Sarah know if you would like to help on 07760468052 so we can ensure we have enough equipment, we will start at 10am and be done by 12pm.

Easter Trail – Easter Monday April 17th

A short trail around part of the wood finding bugs and beasties.  Drinks.  Signposted from car park.  All welcome.  2pm to 4pm.  Small charge for activities, but every entrant receives a prize – more details nearer the time.

Plant Stall – Saturday May 27th

A chance to acquire some locally grown perennial plants and some bedding plants for reasonable donations.  Community Orchard, 10am to 12pm, first come, first served.  All welcome.

Flower & Grasses Walk – Thursday June 29th

Enjoy and learn about some of the flowers and grasses in the wood.  Led by Dr Richard Jefferson, an evening walk enjoying the woodland and the plants and grasses within.  Meet 7pm, main car park.  All welcome.  Donation of £1 appreciated.

Den Building – Sunday July 23rd

Family competition to build a den using material from the wood.  Prizes for the best den! Experience not required as guidance is given.  Each child must be accompanied by an adult.  Cost £5 per family.  Booking essential in advance on 07760468052, either morning or afternoon session.

Fruits of the Forest Walk – Sunday September 17th

A walk looking at the nuts and berries produced by the plants and trees in the wood, along with their uses.  Meet 2pm main car park.  Donation of £1 appreciated.  All welcome.

Orchard Open Day & Friends Birthday Party – Sunday October 8th

Can you believe the Friends of Bourne Wood is 20 years old this year – no neither can we!  Our orchard open day gives us a chance to celebrate this and the progress in the orchard.  We hope to have music, cakes and fruit!  All welcome. More details nearer the time.

Maintaining the Willow Sculpture – Saturday November TBC

Help us look after this living sculpture.  No experience necessary as guidance will be given.  Meet Forest Office, Beech Ave, Bourne.  10am. Tools provided, please bring gardening gloves.
