Wassail Saturday January 20th
In this old English custom, sing to the trees and make lots of noise, to bring a good harvest of fruit to the Community Orchard.
AGM – Wednesday February 21st
Our AGM, a chance for you to come and share your views and ideas. Room 5, Wake House, 6.45pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Please let Sarah know if you intend to come so she can arrange furniture! (07760468052 email@example.com)
Talk “LoveLincsPlants” Project – Tuesday March 27th
A talk by Aidan Neary on the ‘LoveLincsPlants’ project (title to be confirmed), which is preserving Lincolnshire’s Heritage of plants – so come and find out more and how you can help! Methodist Church Hall, Bourne, (access from Hereward Street),7.30pm. £2 admission. Tea, coffee, biscuits, raffle.
Easter Trail – Easter Monday April 2nd
A short trail around part of the wood based on dinosaurs. Drinks available. Signposted from car park. All welcome. 2pm to 4pm. Small charge for activities, but every entrant receives a prize – more details nearer the time.
Bird Walk – Thursday 19th April
A walk listening for and looking for our local birds and any spring migrants. Led by local enthusiast Vaughan Roberts. Meet 7pm, main car park, donation of £1 appreciated. All welcome.
Plant Stall – Community Orchard – Saturday 26th May
A chance to acquire some locally grown perennial plants and some bedding plants for reasonable donations. Community Orchard, 10am to 12pm, first come, first served. All welcome.
Flower & Grasses Walk – Wednesday June 20th
Enjoy and learn about some of the flowers and grasses in the wood. Led by Dr Richard Jefferson, an evening walk enjoying the woodland and the plants and grasses within. Meet 7pm, main car park. All welcome. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Mini Beast Hunt – Sunday July 22nd
Come and hunt for bugs, beetles and butterflies, and have then identified by Keith Porter. Suitable for all, children are particularly good at finding insects! Meet 2pm, main car park. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Children’s Activity Afternoon – August (Date to be advised)
Let your little ones paint, draw and stick while you wander round the Community Orchard in peace. 2pm to 4pm, at Community Orchard, off Beech Avenue, Bourne. Donations for materials for the children’s craft.
Orchard Open Day – Sunday September 23rd
Our orchard open day gives us a chance to celebrate the progress in the orchard, in a relaxing atmosphere with music, craft stalls, children’s activities, hopefully a chance to sample some fruit and refreshments. 11am to 3pm. All welcome.
Fungi Foray – Sunday October 21st
Come and see how many different fungi you can find, and let Dr Vin Fleming identify them and tell you all about them. Meet 2pm main car park. Donation of £1 appreciated. All welcome.
Maintaining the Willow Sculpture – Saturday November (Date to be advised)
Help us look after this living sculpture. No experience necessary as guidance will be given. Meet Forest Office, Beech Ave, Bourne. 10am. Tools provided, please bring gardening gloves.
