Wassail Saturday January 12th
In this old English custom, sing to the trees and make lots of noise, to bring a good harvest of fruit to the Community Orchard.
AGM – Wednesday February 27th
Our AGM, a chance for you to come and share your views and ideas, and hear what we have been doing last year! Baxter Room, Wake House, 6.45pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
Community Litter Pick – Sunday March 17th
Starting from the car park at 10am – in conjunction with McDonalds, an opportunity to help tidy the wood of litter before the Spring. Please let Sarah know in advance if you will be helping as she will be supplying pickers etc. Phone 07760468052.
Dino’s, Dodo’s and Deer – Sunday April 14th
A short trail in the Community Orchard, Beech Avenue, Bourne, for children. Other activities. Drinks available. Signposted from car park. All welcome. 11am to 1pm. Small charge for activities, but every entrant receives a prize.
Spring Flower Walk – Sunday April 28th
Enjoy and learn about some of the flowers in the wood – we hope the bluebells will be out! Led by Dr Richard Jefferson, Meet 2pm, main car park. All welcome. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Classic Car Show – Sunday June 16th
We intend having a stall at the Classic Car Show, to show off what we do in the wood and orchard. Our booklet will be available and there will be a fundraising section! We hope to show off your photographs too!
Mini Beast Hunt – Sunday July 14th
Come and hunt for bugs, beetles and butterflies, and have then identified by Keith Porter. Suitable for all, children are particularly good at finding insects! Meet 2pm, main car park. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Children’s Activity Afternoon – August – Date to be advised
Let your little ones paint, draw and stick while you wander round the Community Orchard in peace. 2pm to 4pm, at Community Orchard, off Beech Avenue, Bourne. Donations for materials for the children’s craft.
Fruits of the Forest Walk – Sunday September 15th
Richard Jefferson will show us some of the fruits in the wood from plants and trees, and what their uses can be. Meet 2pm main car park. All Welcome. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Apple Day – Sunday October 6th
Enjoy the progress in the orchard – fruit to try, stalls and children’s activities, and refreshments. 11am to 3pm. All welcome.
Maintaining the Willow Sculpture – Saturday Morning November – Date to be advised
Help us look after this living sculpture. No experience necessary as guidance will be given. Meet Forest Office, Beech Ave, Bourne. 10am. Tools provided, please bring gardening gloves.
