The Friends of Bourne Wood and Bourne Borderers are holding their 3rd Wassail in Bourne Community Orchard, off Beech Avenue, Bourne on Saturday January 12th at 4.30pm.
A Wassail is a greeting meaning ‘Be of good health’ – and orchard are wassailed to awaken the trees and encourage a good harvest. Therefore lots of people and noise are required to awaken the trees – so please come to this old custom, and bring your pots and pans to bang to make lots of noise, dress up warmly and bring a torch to help see your way to the trees. Refreshments are available throughout the event which is free with donations welcomed.
